Public safety is one of the most important responsibilities of the County Judge, from funding the courts and the jail to preparing for and responding to emergencies. Ron believes safety starts both in our neighborhoods and in the systems that protect them. Real safety means being proactive, not reactive.

The County Judge helps set the tone for economic growth by connecting local employers, workforce programs, and regional partners. Ron will make Bexar County a place where business and people can thrive by streamlining processes, supporting small businesses, and strengthening the local workforce. With experience leading major regional initiatives, he knows how to align resources and cut red tape to open doors for everyone.

Affordable housing is a shared challenge that demands regional solutions. As County Judge, Ron will bring together cities, school districts, stakeholders, and housing authorities to coordinate not compete. By building on the Strategic Housing Implementation Plan and eliminating duplication, he’ll make sure every family in Bexar County has a fair shot at a stable home.

Transportation and infrastructure planning require collaboration between the city, county, and regional authorities, something Ron has been doing for years. As County Judge, he’ll balance roadway maintenance and construction with improved transit, expand regional connectivity, upgrade pedestrian and bike mobility, and focus the Regional Mobility Authority’s capacity on projects that  move people safely, not just cars. 

From flood control to clean air and water, the County Judge plays a key role in protecting our region’s natural resources. Ron will champion sustainable development, engage fully with the Climate Action and Adaptation Plan, and ensure every decision balances growth with conservation to protect all that we call home. 

The County oversees the public hospital system and health programs that provide critical access to healthcare. Ron will refocus our public health mission on closing the healthcare access gap – expanding our hospital system, addressing the mental health crisis and ensuring all patients are treated with dignity and respect. 

The County Judge oversees elections, ensures transparency, and fosters intergovernmental relations — critical areas that shape the public trust. Ron will open the doors of county government, safeguard fair elections, and bring back stability and confidence to our Elections Department.

Bexar County is home to 26 cities, including San Antonio, Helotes, Leon Valley, and beyond. As the head executive of the County, it is imperative to have a strong leader willing to work with each municipality and bring them together to address their unique needs. With years of experience in collaboration and coalition building, Ron is committed to working with every city to create a unified county front.
